Custom Carbon Fiber Fabrication

Insanity Lab Racing prides ourselves in custom carbon fiber fabrication. We do not shy away from the most difficult projects that demand that the finishing details deliver on exceptional fit, quality and performance. We thrive on new challenges and can help navigate carbon composites (and otherwise) to meet your specific application goals. Whether you are looking to drop pounds or create a functional piece of art, we are here to deliver on your custom fabrication needs!

Our process starts with either a pre-existing physical model or with CAD design — STL or STEP files preferred. We then use modern CNC machines — ranging from industrial 3D resin printers, 3 axis CNC mills or 5/6 axis CNC mills — to cut, shape and form the mold. Once the mold is created, we can then create the final production part by either means of vacuum infusion or pre-preg layup. The last step is to clear coat the carbon part and add any tags, branding or manufacturing serial numbers you may want to include for the final fit and finish.

We specialize in small to medium size runs of 10-200 pieces. Our team has fabricated parts for a wide variety of applications including:

Automotive

Consumer products

Home & lifestyle

Nautical & boats

Prototyping

Racing & performance vehicles

How it Works

1) Initial scoping of the project, how many units are required, timelines and build criteria

2) NDA is signed and all parties are able to fully commit to the idea

3) Product is developed in CAD to create accurate molds; in-house 3D scanning service available

4) (Optional) 3D printed or CNC milled prototype is provided for final fitment

5) Product molds are fabricated through CNC technologies

6) Prototype part is pulled from the mold; upon final approval:

7) Production run of final composite parts

What to Expect

A successful custom carbon fiber project starts with a clear understanding of what your goals and objectives are. We will work with you to determine the feasibility of your project and help define a path forward that meets — and hopefully exceeds — your expectations.

We have an extensive background in both wet layup and prepreg carbon fiber fabrication. Depending on your products requirements, we will be able to determine the best method to manufacture your part and more importantly the mold. Some parts might require small design changes to ensure all objectives and criteria are met without creating overly complex molds and overall cost/difficulty per part.

If you have a project in mind, please contact us and we will be more than happy to discuss your idea further.
