The chassis is the backbone of any performance vehicle, dictating the handling and performance on the track and the street. Insanity Lab Racing’s GT40 tubular chassis was engineered from the ground-up to meet criteria that would ensure that our chassis was lighter and stronger than other options available, including the original GT40 chassis design. Over a year of design iteration has gone into perfecting every element of this chassis — from rigidity, to optimal suspension design, to weight optimization.

All of the tubular chassis are designed to work with Insanity Lab Racing GT40 bodies.
RAW CHASSIS
Offered for the complete do-it-yourself builder that wants piece of mind knowing that their chassis was built right.
- Fully MIG welded tubular chassis on permanently jigged chassis table
- CAD engineered and CNC cut tubing
- Chassis weighs 290 pounds fully welded
- C5/C6 suspension mounts welded
- Engine base mount welded
- Aluminum floor panels included
- Delivered with oil coating to prevent rust — powdercoating option available
STAGE 1
Our Stage 1 chassis is the foundation for every GT40 kit car that we sell. Coming in a standard black powdercoat finish, this option provides high quality braking and suspension components engineered to exacting standards. Taking the interior a notch up, the metal interior kick panels and floor are replace with a carbon fiber composite interior which reduces weight, improves rigidity, and provides a stunning finish.
Includes everything from “RAW CHASSIS” plus the following:
- Carbon fiber / kevlar composite interior: floor pan, sill cover, kick plates
- Fully adjustable tubular suspension including spindles and hubs
- QA1 adjustable coilovers
- Wilwood brake kit in front and rear
- StopTech stainless brake lines
- Hard brake lines ran and installed
- Fuel tanks installed (no fuel pumps included)
- Manual steering rack installed
- Includes black powdercoated chassis
STAGE 2
Includes everything from “STAGE 1” plus the following:
- Cantilever suspension with adjustable bellcranks
- Heave element / third element
- 4x Ohlins coilovers
- Billet aluminum bellcranks
- TIG welded push-rod arms
- Enables AWD Tesla capabilities (Tesla mounts included)
GT40 Tubular Chassis Design Background
The GT40 is the most recognized American race car that has captured the hearts of countless race enthusiasts since claiming overall victory at LeMans. With a small, agile chassis and a large displacement V8, the platform had a proven lineage of dominating the competition. Since the 1960’s many advancements have been made in engineering practices and the quality of materials available. Most notably, tire rubber has advanced in orders of magnitude that in turn has led to a different approach to a modern suspension design. By leveraging existing suspension components from the C5/C6, our chassis is able to compete against modern day supercars.
